[00:05.73]Transcend Yourself 超越自我
[00:10.14]Life affords no higher pleasure than that of surmounting difficulties,
[00:15.06]passing from one step of success to another,
[00:18.57]forming new wishes and seeing them gratified.
[00:21.85]Follow Your Dream 追随梦想
[00:29.53]There was a young man born in a poor family.
[00:34.23]As a result, his school career was continually interrupted.
[00:38.62]Once he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up.
[00:44.75]That night he wrote a seven-page paper describing his goal of someday owning a horse ranch.
[00:50.66]He wrote about his dream in great detail and he even drew a diagram of a 200-acre ranch.
[00:57.79]Then he drew a detailed floor plan for a 4,000-square-foot house
[01:02.72]that would sit on a 200-acre dream ranch.
[01:05.92]He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day he handed it in to his teacher.
[01:12.27]Two days later he received his paper back.
[01:15.34]On the front page was a large red F with a note that read,
[01:20.06]“See me after class.”
[01:22.11]The boy with the dream went to see the teacher after class and asked,
[01:26.74]“Why did I receive an F?”
[01:28.81]The teacher said, “This is an unrealistic dream for a young boy like you.
[01:34.40]You have no money. You have no resources from your family.
[01:38.33]There’s no way you could ever do it. ”
[01:40.98]Then the teacher added, “If you will rewrite this paper with a more realistic goal,
[01:46.77]I will reconsider your grade.”
[01:49.31]The boy went home and thought about it long and hard.
[01:53.11]He asked his father what he should do.
[01:55.52]His father said, “Look, son, you have to make up your own mind on this.
[02:00.46]However, I think it is a very important decision for you.”
[02:05.07]Finally, after sitting with it for a week,
[02:08.25]the boy turned in the same paper, making no changes at all.
[02:13.16]He stated, “You can keep the F and I’ll keep my dream.”
[02:18.76]Recollecting the story,
[02:20.75]my friend Monty and I are now sitting in his 4,000-square-foot house
[02:25.33]in the middle of a 200-acre horse ranch.
[02:28.52]Two summers ago that same schoolteacher brought 30 kids to camp out on his ranch.
[02:34.53]When the teacher was leaving, he said, “Look, Monty, I can tell you this now.
[02:39.79]When I was your teacher, I was something of a dream stealer.
[02:43.53]During those years I stole a lot of kids’ dreams.
[02:46.93]Fortunately you had enough gumption not to give up on yours."
[02:51.62]Don’t let anyone steal your dreams. Follow your heart, no matter what.
[02:57.76]
