雅思写作:要注意变换句型

One of the things that the examiner is looking for is your ability to write sentences that are constructed in different ways with different patterns; for example, in terms of tense, word order, active/passive.  If you can do this, then your IELTS writing level will be higher. A good exercise to try out is re-writing your sentences in different ways.

For example:

Original sentence: The local government has made a number of noticeable changes to the layout of the roads.

Re-written sentence: The layout of the roads has been changed noticeably by the local government

Re-write the seven IELTS Writing Part 1 sentences using by filling in the gaps

The price of football tickets reached a peak in 2004: There ___ a peak in the price ___ theatre tickets in 2004.

A slight drop in temperatures in 2006 led to an overall average of 24 degrees: Temperatures dropped ___ in 2006 ___ to an overall average of 24 degrees.

In general, Germany will spend much less on technology than the UK over the next 20 years:  In general, much less will be ___ on technology ___ Germany than in the UK over the next 20 years.
