KUNMING, Southwest China - Strict anti-doping measures have been taken to ensure the cleanness of the 7th Chinese National Games for the Disabled, an official from the anti-doping committee of the Games told Xinhua here on Tuesday.

"It's the first time that China set up an anti-doping committee for the National Games for the Disabled. And we will take most strict measures to fight against drugs," said Mo Zhapai, inspector of the anti-doping committee.

Swimming is one of the events to produce most gold medals during the Games and naturally becomes the hot target for drug tests.

"All the athletes in any event are likely to undergo drug tests both in and out of the venues. Some swimmers even received tests before the competitions. We should make sure that the athletes are doping-free and and the water clean as well."

Wei Wei, an official from the Paralympic Center of the China Disabled Person's Federation underlined the importance of anti-doping: "It's the last National Games for the Disabled before the Beijing Paralympics 2008, and most first-class athletes came here for the games. So the anti-doping efforts are really of great significance. "

"We will focus on top-class athletes and those who surpassed the world records during the games."
