A: The one from the executive vice president's office.
B: I didn't see it. When did it come in?
A: Yesterday afternoon, just before five o'clock. I just glanced at it and then put it down.
B: Where did you put it?
A: On my desk, I think, but it isn't there now.
B: Did you look through all the other papers on your desk?
A: I've looked everywhere.
B: What's the subject of the memorandum?
A: It's about the changes in the accounting procedures.
B: That sounds important. What kind of changes are they?
A: Well, that's the trouble. I can't remember exactly. I didn't read the memorandum very carefully.
B: Who else got a copy of it?
A: I don't know that either.
B: Maybe Salley and Mrs. Green got copies. I'll ask them.
A: Good. But where are they now?
B: They're both in the office. I'll ask them right away.

B: Certainly. A letter must be sent out of the company and must be mailed or posted. A memorandum is a communication within an organization.
