B: What kind are we going to have?

A:Well, he wants us to find out the various models that are available and recommend the one we want.

B: Hm. Great! When do we start?

A: Well, you can start right away by phoning Mary and asking her to send up some brochures  and price-lists.

B:Mary?  She's  Mr. Parker's secretary, isn't she?

A: Yes, she is. Tell her that we are going to buy a new duplicator and ask her if she has any brochures.

C: (on the phone) Parker.

B: Hello, Mr. Parker. This  is  Margaret  speaking. Is  Mary  there?

C: No, she isn't. She's away today. Can I help you?

B: Well, Mr. Parker, Mr. Smith says  we  can  have  a  new  duplicator and that we can choose the one we want. Have you any brochures we can look at?

C: Yes, Let me see. What brand do you want. Epson or Cannon?

B: Well, could you send us some brochures for all that you have mentioned? We'll compare them before we have made a decision.

C: OK. No problem.

B: Thank you very much.

Dialogue B

(Miss  Hu, the secretary of ABC International Corp, comes to Youli Electronics Firm to buy a new automated answering system for the office. )

F: May I help  you, Miss?

H: Yes, My name is Hu Manli from  ABC International. Robert Lin referred me to you.

F: Yes. He told me you would be calling. Glad to meet you, Miss Hu. And here is my card.

H: Thank you. Glad to meet you, too, Mr. Field. I'm excited  to hear about your new product.

F: OK. I'm  sure  you  will love  what  this  new  automated  answering system can do for your business.

H: Yes. I've heard  a  lot  about  it.

F: Watch  our computer  demonstration, please. You'll be  convinced that our product is superior.

(After the demonstration)

H: Yes. I would have to agree with you. It seems to offer more options than the others. But new product sometimes has a few troubles. How about yours?

H: How do you  ensure  quality?

H: I see. But I have to discuss it over with my boss before I make a decision.
