We Met On A Ten Mile Island
Author: Joyce Hemsley
Just a little fantasy!
Sun brightly shining
'twas a beautiful day,
until my love said farewell,
and drifted faraway.
Sun went into hiding
cold breezes touched my hair,
what did I say, what did I do
for him to leave me there?
Down to the sea I wandered,
still feeling sad and blue,
I waited until midnight
when passers-by were few.
Discarding my top clothing,
I swam out with the tide,
To that little dreamy island
only ten miles wide.
There I met a charming sailor
and I told him all my woes.
He said "forget your troubles
that's the way life goes".
He'd also lost his true love
She "tossed him overboard"
How pleased was he to meet me
a new life lay in store.
So early the next morning
we swam home with the tide,
the sun was bright and beautiful;
Now he's a groom and I'm a bride.
