报告显示 未成年人首次触网年龄持续走低
Chinese children are surfing the web earlier in life, with almost 75% saying they first used the internet before the age of 10, up significantly from 55.9% in 2010, a study has found.
一项研究发现,我国儿童触网年龄走低,近75%的儿童称自己10岁前首次触网,这一数字比2010年的55.9%有了显著增加。
The Annual Report on Internet Use and Reading Practice of Chinese Minors (2017-18), released last Monday, said 98.1% of students under the age of 18 have browsed the internet.
上周一发布的《中国未成年人互联网运用和阅读实践报告(2017-2018)》指出,18岁以下学生的互联网运用率高达98.1%。
The study, carried out by several organizations led by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences' Media Research Center, shows children from urban areas start using the internet earlier than their rural peers.
由中国社会科学院媒体研究中心领导的几个组织开展的这项研究表明,城市地区的孩子比农村同龄人要更早开始使用互联网。
The report also found that those from single-parent households and those whose parents do not hold college degrees all tend to use the internet at a younger age.

64.2% of primary school students owned cellphones, while the rate for middle and high school students was 71.3% and 86.9%, respectively.

Though more than half of the respondents said the internet had helped them with their studies, almost 30% said they surf the internet for unrelated content while studying, the report said.

Zhong Fuhai, a teacher at a rural primary school in Macheng, Hubei province, said early exposure to the internet is common at his school.

"I don't regard mobile phones as being necessary for kids, even for middle school students," he said.
