run behind one's expenses 入不敷出

双十一购物节(Singles Day shopping carnival)将至,不少网友已经摩拳擦掌,准备血拼一场。不过剁手党(shopaholic; big spender)在买买买的同时也要注意节制,以免“入不敷出”,下月吃土(tighten one’s belt; be skint/penniless)。

“入不敷出”,汉语成语,意思是指收入不够开支,形容非常贫穷。可以翻译为“run behind one's expenses,live beyond one's salary,spend more than one earns。”
