11月1日，第七次全国人口普查正式开启现场登记，700多万普查人员走入千家万户，登记普查信息。自上世纪90年代以来，中国每10年进行一次全国人口普查。

China started its seventh national population census on Nov 1, with about 7 million census takers going door to door to document demographic information. China has conducted a national population census every 10 years since the 1990s.

要通过这次人口普查查清我国人口数量、结构、分布等方面情况，把握人口变化趋势性特征，为完善人口发展战略和政策体系、制定经济社会发展规划、推动经济高质量发展提供准确统计信息支持。

We should get a good understanding of the population's size, structure and distribution through the census, and the census is expected to map demographic changes and provide accurate statistical information for the improvement of China's population development strategy and policy, the creation of economic and social development plans and the promotion of high-quality development.
