关于歌词中出现的玛莉亚，保罗麦卡尼后来在2001年接受媒体访问时表示，那其实是指他的母亲，因为保罗麦卡尼小时候数学不好，每次碰到令他头痛的数学题，母亲总是会安慰他别太在意，顺其自然就好。

披头四常吵架 录好的母带没人理

     很多歌迷都以为「Let It Be」是披头四解散前最后一张专辑，最近这张披头四最脍炙人口的专辑，即将「原音重现」，歌迷才发现1970年大家熟悉的版本，竟是约翰蓝侬的「私酿版」，根本没经过其它团员认同。
　被称为「台湾披头四通」的音乐543网站站长马世芳，为歌迷解开「Let It Be」的身世之谜。他说，「Let It Be」原本叫做「Get Back」，是披头四想回归出道时４人编制的单纯，内容打算侧拍披头四为暌违３年演唱会彩排过程，当作纪录片播出，演唱会实况则做专辑发行。不过当时团员感情不睦，常为小事吵架，连演唱会地点都没有共识，最后录好的母带还被丢在一旁没人理，甚至更晚完成的「艾比路／Abbey Road」专辑都在1969年发行，从「Get Back」改名为「Let It Be」的专辑却下落不明。
　约翰蓝侬看情势混乱，偷偷把母带交给制作人菲尔史培柯特，完成了弦乐搭女声的华丽版本，不过「Let It Be」是保罗麦卡尼最自豪的作品，他对这首歌被「整型」得浓妆艳抹并不满意，因此在时隔34年之后，他一手催生让素雅的原作重生，让歌迷有机会听见最单纯的披头四。
