　 位于纽约的百老汇(Broadway)是全球音乐剧的重镇，多少剧作家在此一炮而红，多少幕后投资人在此血本无归。筹备经年但票房不佳的新戏可能在几天之后消失无踪，受欢迎的剧码则可以一演再演，盛况持续十余年而不辍。其中，安德鲁洛伊韦伯于1981年推出的作品「猫」，时至今日，已经打破「歌舞线上」的纪录，成为百老汇有史以来上演最长的音乐剧。Memory就是「猫」剧中的一首歌曲，也是被流行音乐界翻唱最多次的百老汇名曲。
　「猫」这出剧的灵感是取材自诗人艾略特的作品，全剧没有故事主线，藉由一群街头野猫的午夜嬉闹聚会，用拟人化的方式，刻划了快乐、悲伤、失望、盼望……等等情绪。音乐风格上用摇滚、爵士、歌剧……不同节奏、情调来传达每只猫儿们不同的性格，是一出老少咸宜、适合全家观赏的音乐剧。
