"First job syndrome" is when you get a job early in your career, say right after graduation, and stay there for a long, long time to the point where it clouds knowledge of your own worth, and inhibits your ability to not only ask for more, but to credibly leave if not given it.

People with this condition starts behaving like a beaten down puppy with the only employer they've ever known. A lack of confidence causes them to believe that no one else will have them or value them as much as their current employer. And, in some cases, they think it will be just as bad wherever they go, partly because everywhere else seems like a foreign country that may or may not even exist.
