SHE might be a Barbie girl but her Barbie world is definitely not on the same planet as ours.
Earlier this week we revealed pictures of plastic wannabe Valeria Lukyanova alongside matching real-life Ken doll Justin Jedica.
And today we can divulge the bizarre life behind Valeria’s obsession with turning herself into the spitting image of the iconic blonde Barbie doll.
Ukrainian Lera — short for Valeria — lives on a liquid-only diet, is married and believes she comes from a distant planet.
No, really.
Her friend and fellow Barbie lookalike Olga “Dominica” Oleynik explained: “Me and Lera, we come from the constellation of Pleiades. There, such looks are normal.”
Lera, who has more than 668,000 “Likes” on her Facebook page and refers to herself as “the most famous Russian woman on the Russian-speaking internet,” added the pair are soulmates from another life.
She said: “When I first saw Dominica, I immediately recognised her from our past lives.”
The daughter of a former DJ and builder dad and a mum who works in the military sector, Lera grew up in Tiraspol, Transnistria — a Russian enclave in Moldova. She has a younger sister, Olga, who is studying in Odessa, where Lera also lives.
From a young age Lera was fascinated by dolls and amassed a collection of more than 50.
Gradually, her fixation with these perfect toy idols rubbed off and she started to model herself on them.
When pictures of Lera first emerged in spring last year, many doubted whether she was real or if the unnatural look was down to clever photo editing.
But she explained her seemingly unattainable proportions come from daily gym visits, starving herself and a boob job.
She believes she will rely on “prana”, which in Hindu tradition means life force, to nourish her.
In an interview with a Russian newspaper in October, during which she consumed only a juice of melon and raspberry, she said: “For the last four months I’ve been on a liquid diet and then I plan to drink only water.
“After that I will live only on the prana. For many years I was on a raw food diet, but for deeper spiritual practices I need to improve myself.”
Worryingly, the petite model is fearful of putting on weight despite being a slight 7st. She said: “I am afraid that I am gaining weight.
“Now I’m 45kg (7st), although before I was 42kg (6st 9lbs). With time I will learn to adjust the weight in my mind.”
When asked how many plastic surgery ops she has had, she replied: “Only one — to increase my breasts by two sizes.
“I am very happy, though I now regret I did not increase them more.
“The rest, except the breasts, is natural. I have not even made the eyelashes longer.”
The Sun’s story on Tuesday provoked a huge reaction, with readers branding Barbie and Ken “ridiculously shallow”, “freaky looking” and “disgusting”.
One online post read: “Some people in this world are extremely sad.”
Another user branded them “dumb and dumber”.
But Lera does not bat a cartoon-like eyelid at the criticism. She said: “It’s hard work but they dismiss it as something done by surgeons or computer artists.
“But I don’t take them seriously. I’m even flattered.
“It’s what success is like. I’m happy I seem unreal to them. It means I’m doing a good job.”
In her teens, Lera was less interested in turning herself into human Barbie and, like most girls her age, more interested in drinking and smoking.
She was also studying to become an architect.
“I was especially fond of hard liquor,” she said. “I could drink a lot of shots all at once.
“The next morning I wouldn’t remember anything. Fortunately, I didn’t spoil my appearance.”
She graduated with a masters degree in architecture and urban planning from the Odessa State Academy of Construction.
Although Lera claims to be 23, she graduated with her masters in 2007, which does not quite add up. Friends on the internet say she is really 27.
As well as a model and Barbie lookalike, Lera lists her occupation on her website as a singer.
Her interests include travelling and “esoterics and meditation”.
And in true beauty pageant speak, the former Miss Ukraine contestant also says her mission is “improving the world”.
She believes beauty really is only skin deep, and that is why she is so interested in her cosmic side.
Lera explains: “If you spend time working only on your appearance and you forget about your inner self, people will not be interested in you because they will not feel anything.
“Many people think you need only good looks to be successful but that’s not true — only spiritual work can bring tangible results.”
In a series of video blogs for her fans, she said her “ultimate goal is to be powered only by solar energy”. And she claims to have mastered the art of time travel through space. She told fans: “I also teach people to leave their physical body and travel in the endless expanses of the universe.”
But there have been dark moments in Lera’s life as well.
At 14, she tried to commit suicide by taking an overdose of prescription pills. Her desperation was apparently down to a boy.
Now she is happily married to Dmitry Shkrabov — although it is not clear whether her view of an “open relationship” is simply about honesty or monogamy.
“Dmitry is always on my side,” she said. “He loves and supports me. He likes me with make-up and without.
“He became a strict vegetarian even earlier than I did.
“He is fond of mountains — he conquered Mount Elbrus. We were on Everest, went to Nepal and the Himalayan mountain range. In general we support an open relationship.” Lera does not want kids, because that is not what they do in her universe. “I don’t feel the desire and the capacity to be a mother,” she said. “I’m from another universe.
“There, everyone is asexual — in our dimension there’s no such thing as children.”
And when asked whether she and her husband are more like brother and sister, she replied in a baffling manner: “I’m not interested in this topic. Either you are here or you enjoy the human pleasures.
“I do not have animal urges. Some people enjoy eating the most, some having sex.
“I will say one thing — the less you make this so-called love, the better.”
Lera’s mum Irina Pashkeeva is very supportive of her daughter, regardless of which planet she might profess to be from.
Irina said: “Valeria is a really good person, very kind and friendly. She helps everybody.
“My daughter has been independent from the age of 16.
“She graduated from school and university. She is who she is through hard work.”
But what every Barbie really needs is a Ken, and on Tuesday we revealed Lera had met up with her perfect match for a photoshoot in New York — but it certainly was not a match made in a Dreamhouse.
In fact, Valeria and perfectly coiffed Ken — aka Justin Jedica — could not stand each other.
American Justin, 32, who has spent £70,000 having 90 ops to become Barbie’s perfect boyfriend, even had the gall to brand Valeria a “fake”.
Valeria hit back by saying: “Justin said bad things about me but he had more than 90 operations while I had only one.
“I think he is a handsome man — but he overdid his lips.”
