5. 性不说sex

当父母向小孩子进行性启蒙教育的时候，常常会用到the birds and the bees来指代性的基本知识。

大家都知道，蜜蜂（bees）携带花粉使花朵受精，这可以理解成雄性受精。鸟类（birds）产蛋，这可以比喻为女性排卵。

She's only six, but she already knows about the birds and the bees.

她虽然只有6岁，却已经懂得性方面的基本知识。

6. 解雇不说fire

解雇裁员不容易，我们可以说成let someone go。

We had to let fourteen employees go last month.

上个月我们不得不解雇了十四名员工。

6. 无家可归不说homeless

无家可归，只得流落街头，所以可以用on the streets形容流浪在街头的人。

Some of these people have been living on the streets for years.

这些人中有一些已经流落街头好几年了。

7. 疯狂不说crazy

这个表达不是很常见：a few sandwiches short of a picnic。对很多人来说，野餐必备三明治，要是少了三明治简直就是疯狂的举动。

He's obviously a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic!

他很明显就是个脑袋有问题的白痴！

8. 杀不说kill

残酷地射杀动物是put animals down。put sth to sleep就是让（生病或很老的动物）无痛苦地死去，也就是我们所说的“安乐死”。
