应该改成：When his father died, John was only 6.

例4：In the policeman's hurry to get from one place to another, he failed to see anything on the way. 

当警察急急忙忙从这儿到那儿的时候，他一路上什么也没有看见。

应该改为：In his hurry to get from one place to another, the policeman failed to see anything on the way.
