HK to host 2007 FIVB World GP in Aug
Hong Kong will host the 2007 International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) World Grand Prix Hong Kong stage from August 10-12 in the Hong Kong Coliseum, said the Volleyball Association of Hong Kong (VBAHK) on Tuesday.
Four teams from China, Dominica Republic, Italy and Poland will competing for the 95,000 U.S. dollars prize and vying for a berth in the Grand Finals, which will be held in China, according to the organizer, VBAHK.
"2007 is a special year for Hong Kong as this is the 10th anniversary of the return of Hong Kong back to Chinese sovereignty," said Hui Victor, president of VBAHK. "To join in the celebration of this memorable year, VBAHK has specially invited the gold medal women volleyball team from the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games to take part in the charity match to raise fund."
"Not only will the public be able to catch a glimpse of the Golden Women Volleyball Team of the Eighties, but also could join in to support community services in Hong Kong," added Hui
