Two collisions occurred during a dragon boat competition in Wanzhou, Chongqing municipality, on Tuesday. 22 people fell into the water as the boat capsized.

20 dragon boat teams from the local prefectures and other provinces and cities were participating in a promotion competition for the 12th Chongqing International Tourism Festival to be held on Wednesday.

The unexpected accidents occurred during the second and fourth round of the competition.

In the second round, four dragon boats rushed out from the blocks - and two of them clashed. One, with 22 competitors on it, capsized.

A rescue team immediately drove to the venue and picked up the competitors.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the first accident, and no boat capsized in the second collision.

A team leader said that such accidents are rarely seen in dragon boat competitions.
