慧慧：今天的话题是Awards？颁奖？
Nathan：Yeah, there are millions of Awards all over the world, 慧慧，You should know the Academy Awards in movie industry。
慧慧：Academy Awards学院奖？不知道，我只知道Oscar Awards，奥斯卡奖。
Nathan：哈哈，They are the same, Oscar is the nickname of the Academy Awards.
慧慧：两个名字说的都是奥斯卡奖啊！Nathan，这是怎么回事？
Nathan：Ok, 据说，很久以前A librarian called Margaret Herrick said that the Oscar statuette looked like her Uncle Oscar. 慢慢的，这个说法叫开了。原来的正式名称反而没人说了。
慧慧：哦，怪不得大家经常要说奥斯卡大叔呢！哎，Nathan，怎么说到电影上了，还是说说体育界的Awards吧。
Nathan：No problem。我们今天要说的是ATP Awards. 男子职业网坛年度最佳颁奖。Let’s take a look.

In March 24th，2004, the 2003 ATP award winners were announced at the NASDAQ-100 Open in Miami. Gustavo Kuerten was recognized for his Humanitarian efforts while Paradorn Srichaphan earned his second consecutive Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award.
2004年3月24日，在纳斯达克100公开赛前夕，ATP 宣布了2003年度的各项获奖名单。
库尔腾因为他的人道主义努力获得承认。斯里查潘则连续第二年获得埃德博格体育精神奖。
Kuerten, the popular Brazilian nicknamed “Guga,” was named Arthur Ashe Humanitarian of the Year for his work on behalf of the needy.
被称为“Guga”的巴西球员库尔腾因为他为贫困者所作的贡献，获得了阿瑟阿什人道主义奖。
Thailand‘s Paradorn Srichaphan was acknowledged for his outstanding sportsmanship by his fellow players.
Srichaphan became the first Asian-born player in history to reach the Top 10 of the ATP Entry Ranking.
泰国球员斯里查潘出众的体育精神被ATP球员所承认。他是第一个ATP排名前十位的亚洲球员。
Other 2003 award winners: Andy Roddick (top player); Bob and Mike Bryan (top doubles team); Rainer Schuettler (most improved player); Rafael Nadal (newcomer of the year); Mark Philippoussis (comeback player); and Roger Federer (fan favorite award).
2003年度其他获奖者有：年度最佳球员安迪·罗迪克，年度最佳双打组合布莱恩兄弟。舒特勒获得最快进步奖，纳达尔获得年度新人奖，最佳复出奖由菲利普西斯获得。球迷最喜爱的球员则是费德勒。

慧慧：Nathan，我听说体育界也有一个“奥斯卡奖”，是吗？
Nathan：Yeah，I know what do you mean. That’s Laureus World Sport Awards.
慧慧：对，劳伦斯世界体育奖。
Nathan：在3月16日，它公布了2004年度各个奖项的提名名单。
慧慧：凑巧的是，其中获得Sportsman of the Year年度最佳男运动员提名的费德勒，一个星期后在ATP Awards中就夺得了球迷最喜欢球员奖.
Nathan：Roger Federer had won the fan favorite award because he had a outstanding performance last year.
慧慧：费德勒拿到这个奖可以说是名至实归，那么我们再去了解其他获奖运动员在去年的ATP Tour中都取得了哪些成就？

首先是ATP Awards的重头戏，Player of the Year年度球员的桂冠被授予了22岁的美国选手Andy Roddick。
ATP官方是这样总结他在去年的表现。
Andy Roddick became the youngest American and second overall to finish year-end World No. 1 in the history.
罗迪克是美国历史上最年轻的年终世界第一，而在ATP历史上仅次于休伊特。
He won a hat-trick of consecutive titles at Tennis Masters Series events in Montreal and Cincinnati and at the US Open.
Hat-trick 帽子戏法，经常被用在足球比赛中，指某人在一场比赛中攻入三球。
这里则指罗迪克在去年北美硬地赛场连续获得的三个冠军。
包括背靠背的蒙特利尔和辛辛那提两站大师赛，还有随后的US OPEN美国网球公开赛。全年共获得6个ATP冠军，年终排名第一，年纪轻轻就取得如此辉煌的成就，获此殊荣实在是水到渠成。
同样来自美国的双打选手Bob Bryan和Mike Bryan则获得了Doubles Team of the Year，年度双打组合。
有趣的是，这两位选手是一对Twin brothers孪生兄弟，或许是因为心灵相通，配合默契的缘故吧，在去年的比赛中他们携手拿下5个冠军，成为第一对ATP双打排名年终第一的兄弟组合。

2000年，ATP推出了一批被称为“New balls Genaration”的年轻球员，其中就包括如今大红大紫的罗迪克，费德勒，费雷罗等人。
2003年也同样涌现出了许多希望之星，正所谓江山带有才人出，长江后浪推前浪，但究竟谁才是他们中最棒的呢？
ATP 的Newcomer of the Year年度新人奖解开了大家的疑惑，他就是17岁的西班牙天才少年 Rafael Nadal（纳达尔），在他的第一个职业赛季里，他的世界排名就从第235位飞升到第47位，前途不可限量。
上面这些奖项都是由球员评选出来的，ATP另外设有一个由球迷网上投票产生的奖项，Fan Favorite Award最受球迷喜爱奖，这个奖项可是球员人气的风向标，Roger Federer凭借精湛全面的球技，光彩夺目的战绩，成为球迷心目中的偶像。

慧慧：ATP Awards的其他奖项也都名花有主，比如Most Improved Player最快进步奖被授予了德国雨人舒特勒（Rainer Schuettler）。而Comeback Player最佳复出奖则被澳洲大炮菲利普西斯（Mark Philippoussis）夺得。
Nathan：恩，ATP Awards的奖项咱们也说的差不多了。
慧慧：Nathan，我还有一个问题不明白。
Nathan：什么问题？
慧慧：你知道Nobel Prize就是诺贝尔奖，可为什么不说是Nobel Awards呢？
Nathan：这个简单，因为诺贝尔奖不光有奖章medal，而且还有奖金，一张写着prize money的支票啊。所以就是Nobel Prize罗。
慧慧：那么照你这样说，数学界的费尔兹奖Fields Medal。就因为只有奖章medal的缘故罗？
Nathan：孺子可教！
