Du Li shoots down a gold in ISSF World Cup
Chinese markswoman Du Li took the gold medal in the women's 10-meter air-rifle event on the second day of the shooting World Cup in Sydney.
The World Cup demonstrated the potential of China, just as had Day One's final, when Chinese shooters swept the gold medals in the men's 10m air rifle and the women's 10m air pistol events.
Du Li , the reigning Olympic Champion, entered Saturday's final in first place, tied to her teammate Yin Wen.
The two athletes led the final dueling for the first position right to the sixth final shot, when the young Yin missed scoring a frustrating 8.6.
Yin missed also the seventh shot, scoring only a 7.9, her microscopic-yet-fatal mistake pushing her into last place.
Du Li, however, had kept the lead, going on to win the gold medal with a total score of 502.3 points.
The third Chinese finalist Zhao Yinghui ended up in second, winning 10.1 to 9.9 in a shoot-out for silver against bronze medalist Olga Dovgun of Kazakhstan.
Yin Wen closed her match in fifth after shooting off the American finalist Emily Caruso.
